This ceramic sculpture "Agrume Pépons" is made of stoneware chamotte engobé.

Engobed grog stoneware

Stoneware is a ceramic material that offers great resistance thanks to a firing temperature above 1200°C.

The grog, mixed with the modeling clay, gives more structure and flexibility for the ceramist.

The slip is the colored coating applied to the ceramic.

"Citrus Pips", a tribute to the generous cucurbits

Fascinated by the simple and natural beauty of plants, Marie RANCILLAC dedicates her work as a ceramic sculptor to the extraordinary variety offered to us by Mother Nature. "Agrume pépons" is a tribute to the fruits and vegetables of our garden and more particularly to the péponides, fruits of the cucurbitaceae family which are the squash, the melon, the watermelon or the gourds!
