Marie revisits embroidery
"To make the material confess all that it has to tell us" sounds like a refrain for Marie BERTHOULOUX, a young ambassador of contemporary embroidery, this ancestral technique that has managed to reinvent itself. Gold embroidery and material transformation are her specialties. After studying for a BTS in Fashion Design and a DMA in Textiles with a specialization in embroidery, Marie created her workshop "Ekceli" which means "focused gaze" in Esperanto.
Embroidery, a new artistic, pictorial and tactile expression
For Marie, embroidery allows her to paint the textile. An artistic and meticulous craft. The materials she uses are sourced locally or come from recycling circuits in the luxury industry. Marie likes to explore eclectic and contrasting materials and designs each collection according to a specific universe, exploring a new technique or material to bring a new aesthetic and tactile discovery. Sometimes flat, sometimes in volume, embroidery is thought as an ornamental and protean motif.
Applications in many fields
EKCELI provides custom-made services in the fields of fashion, interior design, visual merchandising and art. Marie creates artworks in the form of textile panels.
